Robot Riot Sprint Blog 2
This sprint was one where I felt like I had found my footing for Robot Riot. Within the few weeks I had, I was able to get eight cards done relatively quickly! I focused purely on sprite art this time around, but I’, very proud of the results. The first batch of sprites I did focused on more combat-based power ups. This included the Twin Lazer Guns, Power Ribbon, Bubblegum Canon, and Mine power ups.
For these sprites, I continued with the colored lineart approach; as that was positively received in the last sprint. However, I decided to try out some texturing with certain sprites (such as the mine), and that too was well received. Going forward, I’ll be continuing using these textures to help each sprite stand out from one another. I also tried out using lighter colored lineart on the metal sheets, and I’m glad to report that it too turned out to be a success. I’ll also be incorporating this within the next sprint to make these sprites the best that they can be.
The next batch I did focused more on health-based power ups. This included the Energy Drink, Power Candy, Boombox, and Electric Trap power ups.
Overall, I am very proud of the work I’ve done. I was able to try out new techniques that helped make the sprites look good. I will keep trying out some new techniques in the future, and I can only hope that those too will pay off. I feel honored to be a part of Robot Riot, and I’m glad both the lead designer and producer picked me to be on the team.
