Robot Riot Sprint Blog 3
This sprint was a bit trickier than intended. I didn’t have any sprites to draw this time, so I was tasked with drawing more UI elements. However, I was also given the opportunity to draw menu art for the games!
The first things I was tasked with were button and panel designs. Given how the gradients were received positively in the last few sprints, I continued on with them. This time, however, I experimented with implementing a screen effect on these designs. Needless to say, I am proud with how they came out and once again, they were received positively.
The last things I worked on this sprint was making the background menu artwork. I will admit, I was a bit nervous with this, since I don’t usually draw robots. However, the characters provided were simple in appearance, so I felt like I could at least deliver with the quality. I did the basic menu art, but I also worked on two different versions of win/loose screens. The difference between these versions were the winners of each one. Overall, I am very happy with what I drew, and I’m glad that all three drawings were received warmly.
In conclusion, though this sprint was a tougher one, I’m pleased to report that I feel satisfied with the progress I have presented. I have yet to playtest the game myself, but from what I’ve heard, it has the potential to be a fun game. I can only hope my art will improve as this production continues, and I look forward to see what I’ll be doing next.
